Computers and other technological aids are used throughout the school. ICT skills are taught as a discrete subject and as a means of supporting other areas of the curriculum. The children are encouraged to communicate ideas and information in a variety of forms, where appropriate, using equipment and computer software to enhance their learning.
Every week the children are taught by a specialist ICT teacher in our ICT suite.
During internet safety week, the children will take part in an educational component which will teach them the importance of safe use of the Internet. As you know, the Internet has many helpful and useful features, but there is also a side of the Internet that contains things that could be harmful to children.
Through participating in an interactive games and activities children will focus on relevant topics of Internet safety in a positive and safe way that is appropriate for primary aged children. We will be approaching this area of the curriculum using a wide range of resources including, Know IT All, which is a suit of education E-Safety resources for Primary schools, designed by the children's internet charity Childnet International, to help educate parents, teachers and young people about safe and positive use of the internet. We urge all our parents play an active role in their child’s safer use of the internet. For parental support materials please click the link below.
