To enable the acquisition of a systematic, scientific approach to learning, developing useful knowledge, skills and attitudes about the world in which we live, science experience is presented to the children in a practical, relevant context. Systematic enquiry, the analysis of problems, the formation of ideas and their testing and modification, are encouraged through whole-class, group and individual investigations and project work, designed to arouse the children's natural curiosity. We have excellent links with Sale Grammar School,  which offers out-of-school learning and enrichment programmes. Every year, 'Science Week' is organised by our science co-ordinator, who plans trips and school activities to enable the children to develop not just a love and interest of science but also skills and knowledge beyond the National Curriculum. This year, our 'Science Week' had an 'eco' theme and included a visit to Trafford Ecology Park.

An extract of a recount by Harshita Aribandi (Year 5):

taking weather measurements

Our group trotted down the path where we saw a box. Heather wanted to open it but Miss Holden exclaimed,

'It might be a beehive!'

Matthew opened the box, slowly, while the others hid behind Miss Holden. Miss Holden was frightened and our hearts were beating fast. Matthew finally finished opening the box. And inside there was...a weather station! Not a beehive.
