We believe that students deserve a broad and ambitious English curriculum, rich in skills and knowledge, which ignites curiosity and prepares them well for future learning or employment.

All of our students will be rigorously assessed on entry, this will ensure that staff are fully aware of specific barriers an individual may have and allow for our staff to plan for strategies to enable each student to learn and make progress.
 
We strive to make English an enjoyable and creative experience, giving all student  at all levels access to works of literary significance.  Literacy is a life skill, as one of our golden threads;  we explicitly teach vocabulary to all students at all levels to encourage mastery.
